Age categories for the Youth pageant and Miss North Dakota's Oustanding Teen are:

Little Miss Contestants: First, second, and third grade girls

Pre-Teen Contestants: Fourth, fifth, and sixth grade girls

Junior Teen Contestants: Seventh and eighth grade young ladies

Teen Contestants: ninth, tenth, and eleventh grade ladies
